By far the most rewarding part of parenting is helping your children fall asleep. Now don’t get me wrong, I love my children just as much when they are awake as when they are asleep. But there’s something about tucking a child in (usually in the wee hours of the morning after they’ve fallen out of bed or had a bad dream) and stroking their hair, rubbing their backs, etc, until they fall asleep. Not a care in the world, they completely trust Dad that everything is okay, and they innocently fall asleep. It’s a warm fuzzy sort of feeling, as two of my dear brothers will soon find out.
