Saturday evening we had the pleasure of crusing on the Grand River, courtesy of the Grand River Boat Farm. The cruise was ok, but the cause was excellent. It was a fundraiser for the World Wide Christian Schools organization (no website yet). They organize funding for building Christian schools in poor areas of the world, where schools are non-existent. They also work on sending mission trips to those areas to build the schools, and perhaps most importantly, setup and fund teacher training for those same areas.
It’s incredible how much we have in Canada. Most of the world does not live at all like we do. The gap between the have’s and have-not’s is incredibly huge, and even the poorest family in Canada lives far better than the average family in, say, Haiti. It’s very easy to ignore that fact, and continue on in life without letting it bother us, I can’t help but think that we have a responsibility to help.
